Since we've been doing this for a while now I thought it would be time to reflect on where we've come from and why we do what we do.

Before I started my journey with Five Elements, I was a teacher. A student of mine had severe eczema and was scratching herself to bleeding point, a condition that had plagued her for many months.

Driven by Compassion

Driven by compassion, I became motivated to research the skin health benefits of plants that I found growing locally in Marlborough, around my property near the Pelorus Bridge Reserve.
     Many years ago I had studied botany and this scientific background come in useful in my research of the plant species growing around the pelorus region.

From the sunniest part of New Zealand

The Marlborough region gets the most sunlight in New Zealand and is well-known for its vineyards, where grapes flourish (Blenheim has the highest average sunshine with 2475 hours per year).
   But it's much more than just grapes that soak up this solar energy, converting it into useful antioxidants, and active ingredients that represent nature's medicine cabinet.

Powerful Herbal Healers

Through my research I identified five botanical ingredients that were well known for their healing properties, and created a herbal skincare formulation for the student, and named it Five Elements Skin Tonic.
     I gave it to her to try and after just one week of daily application, the condition had completely cleared.

It was the rapid efficacy of this product that prompted a trial of the product on problem skin complaints from dry skin to psoriasis.
     These positive outcomes and encouraging feedback from others, led to the manufacture and sale of this product.

We've since expanded what we do and now make a range of natural products designed to help restore and maintain hair and skin health. All of them contain herbal extracts from plants grown on our herb farm in sunny Pelorus valley.

With benefits that have been known since ancient times, the effectiveness of these ingredients has been backed up by numerous scientific studies.
